Title: A Kirk Disrupted
Charles Cowan, Scottish industrialist and philanthropist, was a longstanding member of the Sustention Fund Committee of the Free Church of Scotland. Cowan and others were responsible for raising the money necessary to support the work of the chuch following its formation in 1843. Cowan, who was deeply committed to the principles of the Free Church, took practical steps along with others to ensure that the rhetoric of the pulpit was supported by the generosity of the pew. This book is a splendid example of the best kind of history, because from its pages emerges a flesh and blood figure who touched the lives of many of his contemporaries.
Title: Guarding the Treasure: How God's People Preserve God's Word
Guarding the Treasure is about the journey of God’s Word from his writers of the Old and New Testaments through the great events of history to the present day. There are stories of people who made huge sacrifices to learn from and preserve the Bible. The history of the world is full of battles and swords but in the end it is the spiritual victories won by the pens and printing presses that have left an eternal impact.
